Friday’s episode began with poignant footage of Meadows aboard the Aleutian Lady fishing vessel in the Bering Sea. Deadliest Catch follows king crab fishermen as they pursue the seafood delicacy in those hazardous waters. In the aired segment Meadows told the cameras, “We’re ready to get out there, and get fishing.
It’s been one of my dreams and goals to make it up here. ” He continued, “Everything I’ve experienced up here, so far, is just so much bigger. Everything is scaled up. Smells different, feels different.
There’s a lot of risk that comes into it. ” The segment concluded with Meadows saying, “It’s gonna be fun. ” Meadows had three young children. It was previously announced that season 22 would feature footage Todd Meadows had filmed before the incident.
Footage of the fatal incident itself will not be aired out of respect for his family. Meadows’s mother, Angela Meadows, told TMZ in March, “We don’t want to see any footage from the accident and do not want Discovery to air any of that footage or make money off of our son’s death. ” He added that Meadows’s “love for fishing and his strong work ethic earned everyone’s respect right away.
