Trae Young Signs Four-Year, $212 Million Contract to Re-Sign With Washington Wizards

Trae Young announced his re-signing with the Washington Wizards during a news conference in Las Vegas on July 10, 2026. Anthony Davis and the entire Wizards roster attended the event. Young signed a four-year, $212 million contract.

The Wizards traded for Young and Davis after losing 60 or more games in each of the last three seasons. "After seeing last night, I'm just ready to play excited to be a part of this team, these guys," Young said, referring to the Wizards summer league team. He added that the games will do most of the talking this season.

Young, 27, averages 25.1 points and 9.8 assists over his eight-year career. Wizards general manager Will Dawkins said Young has a proven track record of producing and making teammates better, which is why the team worked to re-sign him. "Trae told us he wanted a place where he felt comfortable, a place that believed in him, a place where he can grow with the group," Dawkins said.

Young stated that the debate over his contract is nothing new and that he cares only about what the organization and teammates think.
