Trump Completes Annual Physical at Walter Reed Ahead of 80th Birthday

President Trump said Tuesday that he completed his annual physical at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and that the results were perfect. “Just finished my 6 month physical at Walter Reed Military Medical Center. Everything checked out perfectly,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The White House described the visit as an annual preventative medical and dental checkup. It was Trump’s fourth publicly disclosed medical exam since he returned to office in January 2025.

Trump’s previous annual physical took place in April 2025. Captain Sean Barbabella declared him to be in exceptional health and fully fit to execute the duties of president after that visit. Trump returned to Walter Reed in October 2025 for a routine follow-up exam.

Barbabella issued a one-page summary stating the president was in “exceptional health” but did not disclose the reason for the additional visit. In the weeks before Tuesday’s exam, Trump said he underwent an MRI scan. His predecessor, former President Joe Biden, left office at 82 after dropping out of the 2024 race amid concerns about age and mental acuity.

A Washington Post/ABC News/Ipsos poll released last month found that 59 percent of respondents said Trump does not have the mental sharpness to lead the country, while 55 percent said he is not in good enough physical health to serve as president. The degree of transparency has varied by administration, and results are filtered through the White House and must be approved by the president.

Dr. Jeffrey Kuhlman, who served as a White House physician under three former presidents, said a complete physical for a president of Trump’s age would be expected to include advanced heart testing, screening for common cancers, and a cognitive assessment.
