U.S. President Donald Trump said on June 1 that he had not heard from Iranian officials that they were suspending talks with Washington. Trump made the remarks in an interview with NBC News that aired the same day.

U.S. posture for an extended time. "I think we've been talking too much if you want to know the truth," Trump said.

Trump said the absence of communication would not prompt military action. "It doesn't mean we're going to go and start dropping bombs all over there," he said. "We'll just go silent. " He also indicated he could maintain the current stance indefinitely.

"I think I can wait as long as they want. They're losing a fortune," Trump said. Trump described Iranians as better negotiators than fighters, according to the interview. He reiterated that he had not been informed of any Iranian decision to suspend talks.
