Trump makes false claims on Greenland, wars, Ukraine aid, investment, and 2020 election

President Donald Trump repeated several statements that fact-checkers have previously identified as inaccurate while speaking to reporters Tuesday during a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan ahead of a NATO summit in Ankara.

" Danish military officials, Nordic governments, Greenlandic authorities, and academic experts have rejected the assertion. The commander of Denmark's Arctic forces told Danish media last month that no Chinese or Russian vessels were observed near the island.

A Canadian professor specializing in Arctic security told CNN the claim was "completely invented" and confirmed the assessment remained unchanged on Tuesday.

" The list includes a diplomatic disagreement between Egypt and Ethiopia that did not involve armed conflict during his term, a reported situation between Serbia and Kosovo that lacks documentation as a war, and the Rwanda-Democratic Republic of Congo conflict that continued after a U.S.-brokered agreement.

The list also includes the Israel-Hamas war, where Israeli operations in Gaza have continued after a ceasefire, and the 2025 Israel-Iran conflict, which was followed by another round of hostilities in 2026.

Ukraine assistance figures Trump said the previous administration provided Ukraine with "hundreds of billions of dollars worth of equipment." The Kiel Institute for the World Economy recorded approximately $74 billion in U.S. military aid allocated from late January 2022 through April 2026, with total aid including financial and humanitarian support reaching about $132 billion.
