U.S. President Donald Trump will meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a NATO summit in Turkey on Wednesday. The meeting is scheduled as allies discuss renewed efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war. Trump arrives in Turkey on Tuesday and will hold a bilateral meeting with Turkish officials before the full alliance gathering the next day, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said.
NATO have worsened since the U.S. and Israel launched military action against Iran on Feb. 28. The U.S. is pressing NATO members to raise defense spending to 5 percent of GDP. White House officials told multiple news outlets that Trump will also meet separately with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa during the same visit. The meetings are planned on the sidelines of the summit in Ankara.
