msnbc.comTrump Mobile will launch its first original smartphone model, the T1, this week. The launch follows a nine-month delay from the company's initial target date of August 2025. The company confirmed to the Washington Examiner in June 2025 that the first T1 phones would be assembled in Florida, California, and Alabama.
The delay occurred after speculation that the T1 would not be fully made in the United States. Trump Mobile CEO Pat O’Brien told USA Today that the first T1 phones were assembled in the U.S. but that future units will use parts mainly manufactured in the United States.
He said the delays resulted in a better product. “Those delays were worth it in our minds as we are delivering an amazing product,” O’Brien told the outlet.
The T1 runs on Android software and features a gold design with a black American flag and the Trump Mobile logo. It includes a fingerprint sensor, an AI face-unlocking feature, and a USB-C charging port. The company website states the phones were built with American teams guiding design and quality.
Customers can join a waitlist for the T1 on the Trump Mobile website, which lists the phone at a promotional price of $499. Those who join pay a $100 pre-order charge and could be eligible for the first month free. The site describes the device as a step toward wireless independence with top-tier performance and no inflated price tag.
Mobile offers several service plans, including a signature plan priced at $47.45, a family plan, and a plan with a 15 percent discount for military customers. The website currently lists renewed Samsung and Apple phones as available products in addition to the upcoming T1.
The company first announced the T1 phone on the 10th anniversary of the 2016 presidential campaign launch. Eric Trump, the president’s son and executive vice president of the Trump Organization, said at the time that the phone would be built for hard-working Americans.
The announcement came shortly after the president threatened tariffs on Apple and Samsung if they did not increase U.S. manufacturing. Apple has since taken steps to expand its manufacturing investments in the United States. The Washington Examiner has reached out to Trump Mobile for comment.
