Trump's Disapproval Rating at 62%
A new poll shows President Donald Trump's disapproval rating at a record 62%, driven by dissatisfaction with his handling of the Iran war and economic issues. Trump rejected Iran's latest peace proposal, stating it is not acceptable. The developments come six months before midterm elections, with Democrats holding a polling edge in House races.

The survey found 37% approval for Trump, down two points from February. Disapproval rose from previous levels, marking the highest in the poll's history across his two terms.
On the Iran war, 66% of respondents disapproved of Trump's handling, while 33% approved. The poll showed 76% disapproval and 23% approval for his management of the cost of living. For inflation, 72% disapproved and 27% approved. On the overall economy, disapproval stood at 65% with 34% approval, a seven-point drop since February.
Trump's handling of the border received 45% approval and 56% disapproval, while immigration overall had 40% approval and 59% disapproval.
Among Republicans, Trump's approval remained at 85%, but strong approval dropped to 45% from 53%. Republican-leaning independents approved at 56%, a new low. Independents overall approved at 25%, and Democrats at 5%. Among registered voters, Democrats led by five points in House election preferences, up from two points in February.
The lead expanded to nine points among those certain to vote. Democrats were more likely to view the midterms as more important than past ones, at 73% compared to 52% for Republicans.

Iran sent a 14-point proposal via Pakistan in response to a U.S. nine-point proposal, according to Iranian outlets Tasnim and Fars. The proposal included a one-month deadline to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the U.S. naval blockade. Trump stated he reviewed the proposal but found it unacceptable, saying Iran has not paid a big enough price for actions over the last 47 years.
He threatened more strikes if Iran misbehaves. faces a choice between military action or a deal. Iranian decision-makers are reviewing a U.S. response sent through Pakistani mediators.
The poll results coincide with rising gas prices due to the Iran war, which began in February. Saturday marked 61 days since the war's start, with oil prices soaring to a four-year high. Sen. Jack Reed stated the U.S. is in a worse position with Iran since the war began and that Trump lacks a plan for objectives.
A bulk carrier near the Strait of Hormuz reported an attack, as reported by the British military. Two-thirds of Americans feel the country is headed in the wrong direction. The poll also found 70% view Trump as not honest and trustworthy, and 60% question his mental sharpness.

Rising oil prices are 76% disapprove of Trump's handling. The weak approval ratings put Republicans' House majority in jeopardy. Among registered voters, Democrats hold a five-point advantage. The Democrats’ advantage rises to nine points among those absolutely certain to vote.
