President Donald Trump spoke inside a packed barn on a corn and soybean farm in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, on Friday. According to The Washington Post, the visit was a bid to reassure farmers squeezed by surging costs. Trump acknowledged that prices have soared for key inputs and told the crowd that fertilizer and diesel prices would come down soon.

Fertilizer prices are up more than 25 percent this year. Diesel prices are close to a record high. The president touted his economic policies to the farmers and pointed to the addition of 172,000 jobs in May, according to the monthly jobs report, as evidence that his overall approach is working.
