Trump Thank-You Banners Appear at Federal Construction Sites in Washington
Sky-blue banners thanking President Trump have been hung at multiple construction sites across Washington D.C. amid an ambitious building program tied to the nation’s 250th anniversary. The Interior Department defended the projects, citing historically low crime rates and improvements to public landmarks. It remains unclear who placed the banners or what they cost.
The IndependentC. The six-foot banners include a photo of President Trump in a hard hat. The Independent discovered one banner at the Columbus Circle renovation in front of Union Station.
Others have been spotted on construction sites in Logan Circle, just north of the White House. It is unclear how many banners have been hung and their cost. The Independent contacted the Interior Department to ask why the banners were put up, who by and how much they cost but received no answers.
A department spokesperson said: “President Donald J. C. ” Trump has forged ahead with major new projects ahead of the nation’s 250th anniversary in 2026.
Construction includes the refurbishment of many outdoor and public spaces. Trump’s attempt to bulldoze a local golf course prompted two avid golfers to launch legal action against the administration. Trump has launched a number of ambitious projects in his second term.
Trump launched a $400 million White House ballroom project for which he demolished part of the historic East Wing. Plans for a huge triumphal arch have drawn complaints and a separate lawsuit. Construction is taking place at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
