President Trump said on his Truth Social platform Monday that indirect talks with Iran were continuing at a rapid pace. Hours earlier, an Iranian news outlet linked to the Revolutionary Guard Corps said the regime was suspending the talks and opening other fronts in the war.

Iran's move came in response to what it said were ceasefire violations by the U.S. and Israel. A senior Iranian military officer said Tuesday that a resumption of hostilities with the United States was inevitable.

Trump announced that all shooting would stop between Israel and Hezbollah after separate calls with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and representatives of Hezbollah. Netanyahu said later that Israel's military would continue to operate as planned in southern Lebanon.

Clashes occurred overnight between Israel and Hezbollah. Lebanon's Embassy in Washington said Hezbollah had accepted a U.S. proposal to stop attacks on Israel in exchange for Israel halting strikes on south Beirut.

Oil prices rose Monday following the latest fighting.

Brent crude climbed 4.2 percent to settle at $94.98 a barrel. The S&P 500 added 0.3 percent to its prior all-time high.
