TSMC Pledges Additional $100 Billion for U.S. Chip Manufacturing Expansion

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. said it will invest an additional $100 billion to expand its chip manufacturing capacity in the United States. Abc News reported that the commitment brings the company's total U.S.
Pledges to $265 billion. C.C. Wei, chairman and CEO of TSMC, made the announcement during the company's quarterly earnings conference on July 16, 2026. The new funds target Arizona, where the company had previously committed $165 billion to build six fabrication facilities.
TSMC reported net profit of 706.6 billion new Taiwan dollars, or $22 billion, for the April-June 2026 quarter. That figure marked a 77 percent increase from the same period a year earlier and exceeded analyst expectations. Abc News reported that the record results stemmed from strong demand tied to artificial intelligence.
The company raised its annual capital expenditure budget for 2026 to between $60 billion and $64 billion, up from a prior estimate of $52 billion to $56 billion. It also increased its full-year revenue forecast. Wei stated that AI-related demand globally continues to be extremely robust.
