Twins GM Says No Trade Plans for Byron Buxton, Who Holds No-Trade Clause
Minnesota Twins general manager Jeremy Zoll stated Tuesday the team has no plans to trade outfielder Byron Buxton. The announcement ends recent speculation ahead of the August trade deadline.

Minnesota Twins general manager Jeremy Zoll said Tuesday the club has no plans to trade outfielder Byron Buxton, who holds a full no-trade clause and has stated he intends to remain with the team. "It's not something we're exploring. It's not something we plan to explore," Zoll told reporters, according to MLB.com.
"We continue to have productive discussions with Byron. I think he was very clear on that point last week. But also just from my seat, from the Twins' perspective, that's not something that we plan to explore.
Buxton, who has spent his entire 12-year MLB career with the Twins, reiterated last week that he intends to stay. "End of the day, nobody's in my shoes. Nobody can say anything about what I'm going to do," Buxton told The Athletic.
"The only way I'm getting out of here -- they're going to have to come talk to me and tell me something else. I ain't said nothing about leaving, nor will I. " The 32-year-old outfielder holds a full no-trade clause in his contract, which runs through the 2028 season.
He signed a seven-year, $100 million deal with Minnesota in December 2021. As of Tuesday, Buxton was tied for second in MLB with 25 home runs. In 2025 he set career highs with 126 games played, 35 home runs and 83 RBIs.
