Two Tropical Storms Bring Heavy Rains and Landslide Warnings to Eastern Japan

Two tropical storms brought heavy rains to parts of eastern and southern Japan on Saturday, prompting Level 4 landslide warnings across Tokyo’s Izu islands and sections of Shizuoka, Kanagawa and Chiba prefectures. The Japan Meteorological Agency issued the second-highest level warnings for Minami-Izu and Shimoda in Shizuoka Prefecture, Miura in Kanagawa Prefecture and a broad area of southern Chiba Prefecture.

Tropical Storm Higos had moved northeast over the Pacific after skirting southern Chiba.
