Two US service members killed in Jordan as Israeli raids kill 24 Palestinians in Gaza

Two US service members were killed during Iranian attacks on Jordan on July 17, with one additional service member reported missing. A total of 16 US military personnel have been killed and more than 400 wounded since the start of the US-Israeli war on Iran. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated on July 18 that their sacrifice only stiffens resolve.

The US State Department issued a worldwide travel advisory urging citizens to exercise increased caution due to heightened tensions in the Middle East. The advisory warned that groups supportive of Iran may target US interests overseas or locations associated with the United States and Americans.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber al-Ahmad Al Sabah condemned the attacks targeting Kuwait and other countries in the region during a phone call reported the same day.

The UAE foreign ministry called for an immediate halt to escalation and a return to negotiations, stating that attacks targeting civilian infrastructure violate international law. An explosive device killed one Lebanese soldier and wounded another in al-Mansouri, Lebanon, on July 18.

Israel's military stated the device did not belong to its forces, that its soldiers had not been in the area recently, and that the device was probably set by Hezbollah.

Israeli forces fired artillery in the Zeitoun neighbourhood of Gaza City on July 18, killing one woman and wounding several people. Gaza hospitals reported 24 Palestinians killed in Israeli raids across the Strip since July 17, including 10 in Gaza City since dawn on July 18.
