U.S. Central Command Completes Strikes on Iranian Coastal Sites

U.S. Central Command completed a 90-minute wave of strikes on Greater Tunb Island early Wednesday, targeting coastal defense systems and cruise missile storage and launch sites. The command said the strikes were intended to degrade Iranian capabilities used to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said more than 30 people were killed in recent attacks on southern Iran. Iranian Health Ministry spokesperson Hossein Kermanpour said more than 260 people have been wounded across the country.

Force announced that its forces intercepted several Iranian missiles and drones on Wednesday morning. The force said Iran continues unlawful missile and drone attacks targeting civilians.

Central Command said Iran attacked seven ships in the Strait of Hormuz last week. The two countries have continued limited strikes despite June negotiations aimed at a war-ending deal.
