A U.S. Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crashed near Harbor Mountain in Sitka, Alaska, on Monday during a routine training flight. The aircraft carried four crew members. All four sustained injuries but survived.
The incident was reported shortly after 10 a.m. local time. Sitka Fire and Rescue crews reached the area around 11 a.m. local time. The injured personnel were transported to Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center.
The helicopter is assigned to U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Astoria. The cause of the crash has not been determined. "The safety, well-being, and rescue of our crew members is our absolute, immediate priority," the Coast Guard stated.
The service said a formal investigation will be conducted.
