U.S. Forces Strike 140 Iranian Targets in Third Round of Airstrikes

U.S. forces completed a third round of strikes on Iran on July 11, hitting 140 military targets with precision munitions from land- and sea-based aircraft, drones and naval vessels, U.S. Central Command said.

The targets included Iranian missile and drone sites, naval capabilities, ammunition storage facilities, communication networks and coastal surveillance locations. Overall, the U.S. has struck more than 300 targets in Iran across three rounds of airstrikes this week, the command said.

One civilian crew member is missing and the vessel sustained an onboard fire and significant engine-room damage that left it unable to continue its journey. Iranian forces "blatantly attacked" the ship, the command said.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth wrote on social media that "Iran made a poor choice. " The latest strikes followed renewed activity in the Gulf region. Qatar's armed forces intercepted a number of ballistic missile attacks early on July 12, the Ministry of Defense in Qatar said.

The Kuwait Army confronted hostile aerial targets in its airspace the same morning, and air raid sirens sounded in Bahrain, according to statements from those governments. President Donald Trump announced major combat operations against Iran on Feb. -Israeli strikes on military, government and infrastructure sites.

Delegations from the U.S. and Iran began negotiations last month toward a war-ending deal based on a memorandum of understanding signed by both countries. The two sides exchanged limited strikes in late June even as talks continued.

Iran was given another opportunity to adhere to the memorandum after earlier attacks on commercial vessels but failed to do so, the command added.
