A 38-year-old South Carolina resident who launched a GoFundMe campaign on 25 June says he has scheduled a girth-increasing procedure. The campaign collected nearly $13,000 from more than 250 donors as of Saturday afternoon. The man, identified as Michael Phillips, told interviewers on Saturday that the procedure is intended to relieve some urinary difficulties linked to his micropenis diagnosis.
He described the length of his penis when fully erect as 0.38 inches.
Campaign and medical context Phillips said the campaign, titled "Help Michael Get Micropenis Enlargement Procedure," was created to cover costs for treatment aimed at increasing girth. The Cleveland Clinic defines micropenis as a stretched penile length of less than 2.67 inches; the average adult length is listed as 5.25 inches.
A spokesperson for a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon stated on Friday that the surgeon had offered to perform the procedure at no cost after media coverage of Phillips' condition. Phillips said he had already booked treatment at a facility nearer his home.
Phillips has characterized himself as an advocate against body shaming related to the condition. He previously told interviewers that the diagnosis has limited penetrative intimacy and complicated urination.
