The UAE non-oil private sector PMI compiled by S&P Global fell to 50.8 in June 2026, the lowest reading since February 2021, Semafor reported. The figure marked the weakest performance for the UAE private sector in more than five years and the slowest pace of employment growth since 2020.
Semafor said the decline reflected weak demand, disrupted supply chains, and rising costs tied to the Iran war.
Improved trade flows through the Strait of Hormuz in June eased some pressures, though S&P Global warned any rebound could take time. Saudi Arabia’s non-oil PMI rose to 53. The report noted relatively strong confidence among investors and domestic consumers in the kingdom.
Kuwait and Qatar’s PMI readings remained below the 50-point mark that separates growth from contraction, Semafor reported.
