UK considers requiring salary ranges in job advertisements

The UK is examining measures that would require employers to publish salary information for all job advertisements. The proposal forms part of a wider international movement toward wage transparency. Most OECD countries and 18 U.S. states already impose some form of salary disclosure requirement.

EU implementation and compliance The European Union’s salary transparency rules took effect last month. Only four EU countries met the original deadline.

Some studies indicate that greater transparency may shift bargaining power toward employers and result in lower average wages.
