Ukrainian drones struck a Russian Svetlyak-class patrol ship and multiple ground targets in occupied Crimea overnight, according to statements from Kyiv military officials. Footage released by the commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces shows one drone striking the vessel in eastern Crimea.

The ship was equipped with air-defense missiles and anti-aircraft systems but did not detect the incoming drone.

Additional targets The same overnight operation hit a Pantsir-S1 air defense system in Strilkove and an RSBN-4N radio navigation system near Saky. Ukrainian drones also struck trains in Vladyslavivka and Rozdolne plus fuel storage tanks in Makiivka.

Russian-installed leaders in Crimea said a fuel depot strike in Simferopol killed three people and wounded seven others. A separate drone attack on a commuter train in Kerch killed one additional person.

Context and prior attacks The Crimea strikes occurred one day after Ukrainian drones targeted Russia’s largest fuel export hub in St. Petersburg. Kyiv also released footage showing damage to warships at the Kronstadt naval base in Leningrad Oblast. Both sides have increased overnight strikes in recent days.

Russian forces fired more than 700 drones and missiles into Ukraine on Tuesday, killing at least 22 people. Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces stated it has damaged or destroyed more than 37,000 Russian drones, 248 air defense systems and nearly 2,200 tanks and armored vehicles in its first year of operation.

Officials said the unit aims to reach 200,000 Russian troops and 650,000 military targets destroyed in the coming year.
