United States Faces Belgium in World Cup Round of 16 Monday

The United States men's national soccer team meets Belgium in the FIFA World Cup round of 16 on Monday at 8 p.m. ET at Lumen Field in Seattle. The United States will wear its blue jersey. The team advanced with a 2-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina on July 1.

It opened group play with a 4-1 win over Paraguay on June 12 and a 2-0 win over Australia on June 19 before a 3-2 loss to Türkiye on June 25. The United States entered the tournament ranked No. 16 in the FIFA World Rankings and is appearing in the World Cup for the 12th time as an automatic qualifier as host nation.

Its best previous finish was third place in 1930. The 2026 tournament is the largest in World Cup history and is hosted across 16 cities in three countries. The United States national team is based at Great Park in Irvine, California.

Goalkeepers on the roster are Chris Brady of Chicago Fire, Matt Freese of New York City FC and Matt Turner of New England Revolution. Defenders include Max Arfsten of Columbus Crew, Sergiño Dest of PSV, Alex Freeman of Villarreal, Mark McKenzie of Toulouse, Tim Ream of Charlotte FC, Chris Richards of Crystal Palace, Antonee Robinson of Fulham, Miles Robinson of FC Cincinnati, Joe Scally of Borussia Mönchengladbach and Auston Trusty of Celtic.

Midfielders are Tyler Adams of AFC Bournemouth, Sebastian Berhalter of Vancouver Whitecaps, Weston McKennie of Juventus, Gio Reyna of Borussia Mönchengladbach, Cristian Roldan of Seattle Sounders and Malik Tillman of Bayer Leverkusen.

Forwards are Brenden Aaronson of Leeds United, Folarin Balogun of Monaco, Ricardo Pepi of PSV, Christian Pulisic of AC Milan, Tim Weah of Olympique Marseille, Haji Wright of Coventry City and Alejandro Zendejas of Club América.
