US Sanctions Action The U.S.
Treasury's sanctions office imposed penalties on just one tanker. This leaves 217 other Iran-linked tankers without sanctions. Among those, 37 are very large crude carriers, known as VLCCs.
One of the unsanctioned VLCCs is currently laden with 2 million barrels of oil. This vessel is located inside Iran. The sanctions targeted a single tanker amid a larger fleet of unsanctioned ships.
The imagery and sanctions reflect recent developments in monitoring Iran-linked oil transport. No additional tankers were added to the sanctions list in this action. The total number of unsanctioned vessels underscores the scale of the remaining fleet.
