U.S. Vice President JD Vance on Friday condemned British authorities over the December stabbing death of 18-year-old Henry Nowak in Southampton, saying the victim was handcuffed as he lay dying and accused of a hate crime he did not commit. ” The victim was stabbed by 23-year-old Vickrum Digwa.

Digwa told police he was the victim and that Nowak had racially insulted him. Euronews reported that the case has become highly politicised in the UK. U.S. Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has posted numerous times on X about the police response. Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Thursday accused Musk of “trying to whip up division” in Britain.

U.S. Official to comment on the killing, according to Euronews.
