USMNT Tops Group D After Wins Over Paraguay and Australia

The United States men's national team finished first in Group D after two matches at the 2026 FIFA men's World Cup, Newsweek reported. The team defeated Paraguay 4-1 in its opener and Australia 2-0 in its second match to advance to the knockout stage. The USMNT will close group play against a winless and already eliminated Turkiye side at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on Thursday night.

Group-stage finales are scheduled for Saturday, June 27. Bosnia-Herzegovina recorded mixed results in its group, drawing 1-1 with Canada, losing 4-1 to Switzerland, and defeating Qatar 3-1. The team known as Zmajevi is expected to finish third in its group and face the USMNT in the Round of 32 on Wednesday, July 1, barring changes from the remaining matches.

Bosnian defender Stjepan Radeljic said of the USMNT: "They have a really quality team. We are expecting a very hard game. " The USMNT is playing the World Cup on U.S. soil for the first time since 1994.

The team is scheduled to face the third-place finisher from one of five other groups in the Round of 32.
