Valve Delays Steam Machine and Steam Frame to Summer Launch, Updates Verified Programs
Valve announced Thursday that its delayed Steam Machine PC and Steam Frame VR headset will launch this summer. The company also detailed Verified programs for both devices.
The VergeValve stated Thursday that the Steam Machine PC and Steam Frame VR headset will launch sometime this summer. ” Valve originally announced the Steam Machine, Steam Frame, and Steam Controller late in 2025 with planned shipping in early 2026. In February 2026, the company said a memory and storage crunch forced it to revisit pricing and shipping plans.
Valve released the Steam Controller separately and put it up for sale in early May 2026. The company is now redesigning the Steam store ahead of the Machine and Frame launches and sharing Verified program details so developers can prepare their games. The requirements for a game to be Verified for the Steam Machine are nearly identical to those for the Steam Deck.
The Steam Machine is roughly six times as powerful as the Steam Deck. Valve is testing every title on the Steam Machine that fell below performance requirements on the Steam Deck. The Steam Frame Verified badge signifies games that run well when played natively on the headset.
The Steam Frame is capable of streaming games to the headset. The Steam Frame Standalone Verified program focuses on the experience customers will have with the device out-of-the-box in standalone mode. The article was written by Jay Peters and published on June 4, 2026 at 10:48 PM UTC.
