Vickrum Digwa Convicted of Murdering 18-Year-Old Henry Nowak in Southampton
An 18-year-old was killed in December 2025. A 23-year-old man was convicted last week. Political figures have since clashed over the case and policing standards.
Al JazeeraHenry Nowak, 18, was stabbed to death in Southampton in December 2025. Vickrum Digwa, a 23-year-old British Sikh man, was convicted of the murder by a jury last week. Nowak died at the scene. Police body camera footage shows an officer handcuffing Nowak after Digwa accused him of assault.

In the footage Nowak repeatedly told the officer he had been stabbed, while the officer responded that he did not think so. Nowak also said “I can’t breathe” while being handcuffed. Mark Nowak, Henry’s father, told reporters outside court on Monday that the family does not want his death used to create further division, hatred or tension.
“We want his story to make our streets safer for everyone,” he said. “This is not a case about Sikhism. ” A riot occurred in Southampton on Tuesday night involving far-right protesters and known neo-Nazis clashing with police.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer spoke in parliament on Wednesday and repeated Mark Nowak’s words. ” Farage has accused police of two-tier policing in the case. Starmer rejected that claim. Amnesty International condemned right-wing political commentary after the murder, without naming specific individuals or organizations.
Rupert Lowe launched a new far-right party called Restore amid the political exchanges.
