nypost.comSan Antonio Spurs forward Victor Wembanyama has refused soda endorsement offers worth millions of dollars. The decision dates to his time playing in France when he earned $150,000 a year. His agent Jérémy Medjana told The Athletic that Wembanyama will not promote soda products.
“We’re not gonna mix his image with sodas like Coca-Cola,” Medjana said. “They all want him, but Victor will never sell soda. He has signed an endorsement deal with Barcode, a plant-based performance drink that contains no added sugar. The 22-year-old also maintains deals with Nike, Louis Vuitton, 2K Sports, Fanatics, Authentic and H-E-B.
NBA commissioner Adam Silver told The Athletic that Wembanyama understands brand opportunities will increase if his team wins a championship.
Wembanyama averaged 21.4 points per game as a rookie in the 2023-24 season. His scoring rose to 24.3 points per game the following season and reached 25 points per game this season. He finished third in this season’s MVP voting. The Spurs advanced to the NBA Finals after defeating their conference opponent in seven games, their first Finals appearance since 2014.
