A video creator known as Doctor Spaghetti reviewed footage from Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and stated that the host is never shown swallowing food on camera. The analysis, presented in multiple short videos and one half-hour YouTube video, has accumulated about a million likes on Instagram.

Doctor Spaghetti said the pattern first came to his attention during a live stream when a viewer suggested the camera always cuts away before Fieri finishes chewing. After examining episodes spanning 17 years, he reported finding instances where Fieri lifted empty chopsticks or removed a spoon with food still on it.

Some chefs and television professionals who have worked on the series said the editing choices reflect standard production constraints. A chef who competed on a Food Network tournament hosted by Fieri wrote that he eats everything during filming. A director of photography who has worked on more than 1,000 restaurant shoots for the show commented that he finds the discussion amusing.

Doctor Spaghetti said he has conducted multiple five-hour review sessions and has not located a single clear swallow by Fieri, while noting that other cooking-show hosts are routinely shown swallowing. He added that Fieri's son Hunter is visible swallowing in one episode.

A representative of Warner Bros. Discovery, which operates the Food Network, responded to a request for comment but did not provide one. A representative for Fieri's brand did not immediately return a request for comment.
