Video game publishers shift release dates ahead of Grand Theft Auto VI
Multiple major titles moved to September and October 2026. November remains largely clear of competing releases. Several publishers cited the crowded schedule when announcing delays.

Publishers have moved several high-profile games into September and October 2026, leaving November largely free of competing releases ahead of the scheduled launch of Grand Theft Auto VI. Sony’s State of Play presentation on Tuesday added Wolverine for September 15, Dune: Awakening for September 22, Control Resonant and Silent Hill: Townfall for September 24, Onimusha: Way of the Sword for September 25, and Ace Combat 8 for October 2.
These titles join Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, already set for October.
The list includes Sega’s Stranger Than Heaven and Virtua Fighter spinoff Crossroads, Bandai Namco’s Gundam Rogue Orbit, Capcom’s expansion for Monster Hunter Wilds, Maverick Games’ Clutch, and Telltale’s The Wolf Among Us 2. Final Fantasy VII Revelation is now planned for spring 2027.
Microsoft cited the crowded 2026 calendar, including Grand Theft Auto VI, when it delayed Fable to 2027. The company stated the decision followed an assessment of multiple major releases already scheduled.
Resonant said the studio remains confident despite the September cluster. “We’re confident in our game,” the director stated. ” Nintendo has not announced its holiday lineup. The company has focused on titles releasing before November, including Star Fox on June 25, Rhythm Heaven Groove on July 2, and Splatoon Raiders on July 23.
