Vinicius Oliveira defeated Andre Fili by TKO late in the second round at UFC Fight Night 279 on Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Oliveira improved to 24-4 while Fili fell to 25-14. Oliveira absorbed heavy body kicks from Fili in the first round.
He hurt Fili with a 1-2 combination and finished the fight with a flurry of strikes. Oliveira moved up from bantamweight after losing to Mario Bautista in a February 2026 main event. He had cut approximately 50 pounds for that bout and had won his previous four UFC fights before the defeat.
After the win, Oliveira called for a fight against Josh Emmett, the No. 15-ranked featherweight. "If the UFC want to give me Josh Emmett, Top 15, I'll be ready to fight with him," he said in his post-fight interview.
Oliveira added that he hopes to face a higher-ranked opponent. "But I hope the UFC give me a Top 12 opponent, but I don't know who," he said. "In my former division, bantamweight, I was Top 12. " The Brazilian will now wait for the UFC's decision on his next opponent.
