Vint Cerf Joins Innovation Labs DNSid Project for AI Agent Identity
Internet pioneer Vint Cerf joined Innovation Labs' DNSid project by July 17, 2026. The effort anchors AI agent identity to the Domain Name System through an open framework submitted to the IETF in June. DoorDash and Adobe have introduced related agent tools in the same period.

Vint Cerf joined Innovation Labs' DNSid project on or before July 17, 2026, forbes.com reported. Cerf co-designed the TCP/IP protocols that underpin the modern internet. Innovation Labs, based in Bellevue, Washington, submitted an Internet-Draft for DNSid to the IETF in June 2026.
DNSid is an open framework that anchors durable identity for AI agents to the Domain Name System. DoorDash released a limited beta of dd-cli on July 15, 2026. The command-line tool lets developers and AI agents search stores, build carts, and place food orders.
Adobe plans to add agentic commerce features to its Adobe Commerce platform. Allie Kline, Interim CEO of Innovation Labs, said organizations generally know who is responsible for AI agents inside their own environments. She added that the challenge ahead involves agents operating across organizations, platforms, and services.
Kline stated that DNS is one of the few systems that already works across organizational boundaries and that DNSid establishes who is accountable without deciding whether an agent or its owner is trustworthy. Cerf said the internet has always evolved by addressing foundational infrastructure challenges before they became systemic constraints.
He added that AI agents are driving the next major architectural evolution and that questions of identity, accountability, and interoperability require the same thoughtful architectural approach that enabled the internet to scale.
