The company formerly known as Dominion Voting Systems dropped its $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit against Mike Lindell on Wednesday. The suit, filed in 2021, accused Lindell of promoting false claims about the 2020 election. The company and Lindell agreed that each side would cover its own legal costs, according to a court filing.
Background on the company The firm, now called Liberty Votes, was sold in October to a company run by Scott Leiendecker. His LinkedIn profile states he served as election director for the city of St. Louis until 2012. Voting systems from the company were used in 27 states during the 2024 election.
Lindell's response Lindell, who is running for governor of Minnesota, described the dismissal as a "relief." He also referenced Fox News' earlier $787.5 million settlement with the company. A jury last year ordered Lindell to pay $2.3 million in a separate defamation case involving a former company director.
