ESPNWashington Wizards center Alex Sarr underwent surgery Monday to repair a fractured right foot. The team announced the procedure after Sarr sustained the injury on a contact play during an offseason workout late last week. The surgery took place in New York.
Sarr, 21, is expected to be healthy for the start of the 2026-27 season, the Wizards and ESPN both stated. Sarr was drafted second overall in the 2024 draft and is entering his third season. 1 minutes per game.
0 blocks overall, according to ESPN. 2 minutes across the 48 games he played. Those appearances were limited by multiple injuries, including issues with his toe, adductor, hamstring, calf and ankle.
The Wizards traded for Trae Young and Anthony Davis last season to accelerate the development of their young core that includes Sarr, Kyshawn George, Tre Johnson, Bub Carrington and Will Riley. The team also holds the No. 1 overall pick in this month’s draft.
After losing 64 or more games in each of the past three seasons, Washington is looking to become a playoff contender this year with Sarr positioned as a central part of that plan.
