The Washington Wizards defeated the Utah Jazz 92-88 on July 10 in an NBA Summer League game. AJ Dybantsa, the Wizards' first-round draft pick, led all scorers with 27 points on 7-of-18 shooting. Darryn Peterson scored 24 points on 6-of-18 shooting for the Jazz.
The contest opened with Peterson committing a turnover and Dybantsa missing his first shot off the side of the backboard. Dybantsa later responded to a hard foul from Cody Williams with an acrobatic layup. Peterson later caused defender Jamir Watkins to suffer an ankle injury with a dribble move.
Dybantsa missed all five of his three-point attempts. He scored a game-high 25 points on one layup off the glass. Peterson banked in a three-pointer at the final buzzer. The two teams combined for 60 fouls at a rate of 1.5 fouls per minute.
Peterson and Watkins each committed nine fouls. Summer League games run eight minutes shorter than standard NBA contests. The NBA tested a new rule allowing players to shoot one foul shot for the full value of the foul.
Tre Johnson scored 18 points in the first half with zero assists. Washington's Will Riley, a 2025 first-round pick, impressed with his driving ability.
