The Washington Wizards decided to shut down AJ Dybantsa for the remainder of the 2026 NBA summer league after two games, ESPN reported. The No. 1 pick in the 2026 NBA draft played his final game on Sunday, July 12.
Summer league coach T.J. Sorrentine confirmed the decision to The Athletic before Tuesday's game against the Chicago Bulls. The Wizards also shut down second-year wings Will Riley and Tre Johnson for the rest of the schedule.
Dybantsa scored 27 points with seven rebounds and two steals in his debut. He followed with 23 points in his second game. His last prior action came on March 19, 2026, when he posted 35 points and 10 rebounds in an NCAA tournament loss to Texas.
"It was kind of just testing grounds for me," Dybantsa said after his final summer league game. " The Wizards are scheduled to play the LA Clippers on Wednesday, July 15, before summer league playoffs begin.
