The White House on Wednesday rejected a report from Iranian state television that described a draft memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran. Officials described the cited document as a complete fabrication and said the report from Iranian state media was not true.

The memorandum outlined in the Iranian report claimed the United States had proposed withdrawing all its forces from around Iran and dropping its naval blockade of Iranian ports. In exchange, the document said Iran would reopen the Strait of Hormuz and restore traffic to pre-war levels within 30 days.

"This report from Iranian controlled media is not true and the MOU they 'released' is a complete fabrication," the White House's Rapid Response 47 X account said. "Nobody should believe what Iranian state media is putting out. " The statement was issued the same day Iranian state television published the report.

Officials did not provide additional details on current U.S. policy toward the Strait of Hormuz or any ongoing discussions.
