Wizards Beyond Waverly Place to Conclude with Four-Part Event Directed by Selena Gomez

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is set to conclude with a four-part event this summer, with production on these episodes having started earlier in April 2026. Selena Gomez will make her directorial debut by directing the premiere episode of the concluding four-part series.

Gregg Sulkin will guest star in the finale, reprising his role as Mason Greyback, a purebred werewolf and romantic interest of Alex Russo from the original Wizards of Waverly Place.

An exclusive photo released by Deadline shows Sulkin on set, leaning against the doorframe of an apartment. The storyline of the four-part event centers on Billie, who discovers that to rescue her mother Alex, she must reunite with her long-lost father. Billie's family bands together, realizing their combined power is essential to defeating the evil threatening them.

This follows the cliffhanger ending of season 2, where Billie regained her erased childhood memories, including that Alex is her mother. Key cast members include David Henrie as Justin Russo, Janice LeAnn Brown as Billie, Alkaio Thiele as Roman Russo, Max Matenko as Milo Russo, Taylor Cora as Winter, and Mimi Gianopulos as Giada Russo.

Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas serve as writers and executive producers, alongside executive producers Gary Marsh, Jonas Agin, Rick Williams, Selena Gomez, and David Henrie.

The original Wizards of Waverly Place was created by Todd Greenwald. The series’ narrative has involved characters such as Damian Pennwolf, Billie's father and a former dark wizard, and Lord Morsus, who forced Billie to open a rift to the world of dark magic at the end of season 2. Alex jumped through this portal with Lord Morsus and closed it from the other side to protect others.
