De-Laune created the group after facing personal difficulties including a hysterectomy that induced menopause, a divorce, and endometriosis.
Prior to turning 50, she undertook a challenge to try 50 new activities, such as meditation, solo traveling, learning salsa, and eating oysters, to regain control during a period of uncertainty involving health issues, separation, and job changes.
The network holds monthly meetings open to women working in the wellness industry and those interested in their own wellbeing. The first three sessions will cover topics including menopause and endometriosis.
the Initiative De-Laune's perspective on middle age shifted after completing her 50 new experiences challenge.
Previously employed in corporate roles in risk compliance and health and safety, she decided to inspire other women to prioritize mindset changes and wellbeing. In addition to the network, De-Laune started a business named Fifty Firsts Wellness, which offers coaching, training sessions, and workshops. She described the challenges around age 50 as an opportunity for growth upon reflection.
A member of the network, aged 39 and from North Somerset, reported a positive experience in connecting with others and openly discussing wellbeing concerns. The member noted that participation increased confidence in self-care and reduced focus solely on family responsibilities.
The network aims to foster community support for mid-life transitions.
De-Laune leads a free virtual event for participants in the South West and Wales on 21 April. >"It was hard, there was a lot of uncertainty. [But] I was determined to not look at it in that negative way," she said.
