Wyndham Clark Holds Six-Shot Lead After 54 Holes at U.S. Open

Clark made four par saves in a five-hole stretch and hit a 3-wood to 4 feet for the only eagle of the week on the par-5 16th hole. He closed with a bogey on the final hole. m.

Clark said the late start left the course quieter than usual. "It was kind of unfortunate that we're finishing in the dark and people weren't really out there," he said. " Scottie Scheffler shot 69 and sits in second place.

He made three straight birdies and shot 32 on the back nine. Only two rounds under par were recorded in the third round. Xander Schauffele made a pair of double bogeys on the back nine. "It's all in Wyndham's hands, really," Schauffele said.

"If he plays a really solid round of golf tomorrow -- if he shoots even par or 1 over or 2 over -- he's going to win the golf tournaments. U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club in 2023.
