X Removes Monetization From Accounts Using Others' Content
X has deactivated monetization for several large accounts after finding repeated use of videos without attribution. Product head Nikita Bier posted public notices of the actions between May 23 and May 30, 2026.
blog.hootsuite.comX has removed monetization from multiple accounts that posted videos without crediting the original creators. The platform is also redirecting impressions and revenue toward the accounts that first published the material.
Product head Nikita Bier stated that the account Disclose.tv had its monetization turned off after cropping a watermark from footage recorded by spaceflight reporter Adam Bernstein.
Additional accounts, including one with 1.6 million followers, have been cited for using secondary profiles to post material and then reposting it under the main brand. Bier's team said it is now identifying these patterns at scale.
