Yellowstone Spinoff Dutton Ranch Parts Ways with Showrunner Ahead of Premiere
The upcoming Yellowstone spinoff series Dutton Ranch has parted ways with its Season 1 showrunner Chad Feehan three weeks before its scheduled premiere. Sources reported that Feehan clashed with stars Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly, as well as creator Taylor Sheridan and executive David Glasser. The series is set to debut on May 15 on Paramount Network and Paramount+.

The Yellowstone spinoff series Dutton Ranch has let go of its Season 1 showrunner, Chad Feehan, ahead of its premiere. A source stated that Feehan will not return if the show is renewed for a second season. m. ET on Paramount Network and Paramount+.
Insiders reported that Feehan clashed on set with series stars Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly, who portray Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton. Puck first reported the news on Friday, noting that Taylor Sheridan, the creator of the Yellowstone universe, and 101 Studios boss David Glasser were also unhappy with Feehan's work on Season 1.
Paramount stated it remains confident in the show, with the issues centered on Feehan's management of production.
Background on the Series Yellowstone aired on Paramount from 2018 to 2024 and followed the Dutton family, including patriarch John Dutton played by Kevin Costner and his adult children. The series concluded with John Dutton's death and other family members relocating or taking new paths. Dutton Ranch continues the story of Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler as they move from Montana to Texas.
This development follows previous issues in the Yellowstone franchise. Kevin Costner left the original series after the first half of Season 5 amid reports of a feud with Taylor Sheridan. In November 2023, Cole Hauser's Free Rein Coffee Company was sued by Bosque Ranch, owned by Taylor Sheridan, over a trademark issue; the suit was dismissed in December 2023.
