Yonhap News Agency is hosting its annual Korean Peninsula Symposium on June 26 at Lotte Hotel Seoul. The event examines global crises, alliance shifts, and strategies for peace on the peninsula. It is co-hosted by the Ministry of Unification and the Institute for National Security Strategy.

Yonhap News Agency hosted the Korean Peninsula Symposium on June 26 at Lotte Hotel Seoul to discuss global complex crises and security policy on the peninsula. " Unification Minister Chung Dong-young delivered the keynote address on the policy direction of President Lee Jae Myung's government toward North Korea and its approach to establishing peace on the peninsula.
Seong Ghi-hong, senior presidential secretary for public relations and communication, read President Lee's congratulatory remarks.
New National Assembly Speaker Cho Jeong-sik also delivered remarks. U.S. House Reps. Young Kim (R-CA) and Ami Bera (D-CA) participated virtually with video messages on the South Korea-U.S. alliance. Yonhap News Agency President and CEO Hwang Dae-il spoke at the opening.
The first session featured experts from the United States, Japan, China and other countries examining shifting alliance dynamics. The second session addressed uncertainties in economic and energy security. Yonhap has hosted the symposium annually with the unification ministry since 2015.
The forum was livestreamed on YouTube in Korean and English.
