New York Yankees Place Carlos Rodón on 15-Day Injured List With Elbow Inflammation

The New York Yankees placed left-hander Carlos Rodón on the 15-day injured list Friday with elbow inflammation, ESPN reported. The 33-year-old joins fellow left-hander Max Fried on the list. Fried has been out since mid-May with a bone bruise in his left elbow.
Rodón underwent surgery on his left elbow in October to remove loose bodies and shave down a bone spur. That procedure delayed his readiness for the 2026 season. He then injured his hamstring in late March while progressing through his throwing program.
Rodón made his season debut on May 10 and posted a 3.30 ERA in nine starts. He had been scheduled to start Saturday against the Minnesota Twins. The Yankees could turn to a bullpen game Saturday and use long relievers Ryan Yarbrough and Paul Blackburn.
Right-hander Elmer Rodríguez is unavailable after starting Thursday. The team could also promote right-hander Brendan Beck, who debuted with three innings in relief on May 7. The Yankees activated center fielder Trent Grisham from the injured list Friday after he had been sidelined since June 12 with a hamstring injury.
They also activated third baseman Ryan McMahon, who had been on the list since June 24 with a throat infection. To clear roster space, the Yankees optioned infielder Oswaldo Cabrera to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
