Zcash completed activation of its NU6.2 hard fork on schedule after developers corrected a flaw in the zero-knowledge proof code used by the Orchard shielded pool. The vulnerability could have allowed double-spending of shielded coins. The issue was identified and patched before the upgrade took effect.

Upgrade details Network participants reported that the transition occurred without interruption to transaction processing or block production. Developers stated that the total coin supply was unaffected by the fix and that no user balances were altered during the process.

Vulnerability background The flaw existed in the cryptographic code responsible for validating shielded transactions. It was discovered during routine review ahead of the planned hard fork. The same statement said the correction was implemented in time for the NU6.2 activation and that no exploitation occurred.
