Zelensky Says Fighting Continues for Kostyantynivka Despite Russian Capture Claim

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Sunday that fighting continues for the eastern town of Kostyantynivka. He rejected Moscow's claim that Russian forces had captured the settlement. Zelensky made the statements in his daily evening address.
He said Russian leader Vladimir Putin would never dare to appear in Kostyantynivka. The town lies in the Donetsk region and functions as a logistics hub. Moscow announced earlier this week that its forces had taken Kostyantynivka.
Kyiv immediately called the claim a lie. Zelensky warned that Russia is preparing a new wave of large-scale attacks ahead of this week's NATO summit in Turkey. Zelensky is expected to meet U.S. President Donald Trump at the gathering.
He stated that Ukrainian strikes on Russian targets deliver results every day. He added that pressure must be applied to Russia to achieve peace and that Kyiv expects conditions for a dignified peace to advance in the coming months through force or diplomacy. Russia's invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022.
At least four people were killed by Russian drone and missile strikes in Ukraine on Sunday.
