The 21-year-old first baseman from Hanamaki, Iwate Prefecture, announced on Sunday he will sign with the Miami Marlins after being selected in the eighth round of the MLB draft. He turned down a first-round selection by the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks in the NPB draft.
