At least 1,000 Catholics gathered on Saturday, June 6, 2026, for a Eucharistic procession near the White House. m. Mass outside the Catholic Information Center’s office.

M. through Farragut Square, Lafayette Square past the White House, and McPherson Square before returning to the center around noon. Fr. Charles Trullols, director of the Catholic Information Center, led the procession.

“A Eucharistic procession is a public expression of our devotion and belief in the True Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist,” he stated. He added that the timing was meaningful because Pope Leo XIV was leading a Eucharistic procession the same weekend in Spain. The Washington event formed part of the 2026 Eucharistic Pilgrimage, which began May 24 in St.

Augustine, Florida, and is scheduled to end July 5 in Philadelphia. The route covers more than 2,000 miles across 14 East Coast states and involves at least 18 Catholic archdioceses and dioceses. It is named for Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini, who established 67 hospitals, schools, and orphanages over 34 years.

Nine “Perpetual Pilgrims” are walking the full route. Approximately 10,000 other people have joined partner processions along the way. The Perpetual Pilgrims also joined Fr. Trullols in an act of Eucharistic devotion at the Washington Monument on June 5 or 6 to bless the United States ahead of its 250th anniversary.

She added, “In each Eucharistic procession, I pray that Jesus will bless, heal, and renew the community we journey through. ” Jason Shanks, president of the National Eucharistic Congress, said the procession continues a practice Pope Leo XIV carried out in Rome last year. “Catholics are bringing that same public witness to the heart of Washington,” he stated.

The procession occurred within a month of the Rededicate 250 event, in which thousands of Christians gathered for public prayer and worship. Gen Z conversions to Catholicism have recently increased, according to prior reporting by the Daily Caller News Foundation.
