The attorney general has asked the Court of Appeal to examine sentences given to three teenage boys convicted in the rape of two girls in Hampshire. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer described the sentences as the right outcome.
The attorney general has referred the sentencing of three teenage boys convicted in the rape of two girls in Hampshire to the Court of Appeal for review. Two 15-year-olds received youth rehabilitation orders and were placed under supervision and surveillance last week.
A 14-year-old was also given a youth rehabilitation order for encouraging one of the attackers and for an indecent images offence.
The attorney general's office did not specify what aspect of the sentences prompted the referral or what changes it will seek from the Court of Appeal.
